Join MLK50: Justice Through Journalism for our second “Get These Hands” spades tournament and game night fundraiser at the Balinese Ballroom on Nov. 3. We’ll have a fun-filled evening centered on Black joy featuring card and board games, dancing, smack talking, food and an open bar.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the event starts at 7 p.m. The spades tournament will have a limited number of teams, so grab your partner and purchase a team ticket today. We’ll also have dominoes, Jenga, Uno and other games for those who don’t play spades.
Proceeds will go toward MLK50’s annual end-of-year fundraising campaign. Our reporting brings folks together for challenging conversations, such as who and what is responsible for poverty in Memphis. We also use our powerful storytelling to remember why it’s so important to center joy – Black joy in particular – to sustain us in our fight for economic justice.
We hope you can join us for this night of fun and community-building. Early bird tickets – $50 for an individual, $90 for a spades tournament team and $115 for a couple – are on sale now until Oct. 23!
