As the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination approaches, we at MLK50: Justice Through Journalism wonder what the civil rights leader would think of Memphis today.

So we’re asking our readers to join us in this thought experiment: Imagine that King returned to Memphis for a day. You want to take him somewhere that you’re proud of, somewhere that speaks to his dream of economic justice and an end to poverty.

Where would you take him? Is it a school? A business? A historical site? To a meeting of an organization?

Please email the place you’d take King — and explain why you chose that place to staywoke@mlk50.com. Put “If MLK returned ” in the subject line and send us your idea by Dec. 31.
